AU Meme: (Or possible canon????) Angel arrives too late and Faith gets her trauma taken away.
Faith collapsed onto the cold floor once the process was completed. Her eyes had flickered shut and by that time Angel had darted across the room and was knelt down in front of her, carefully trying to lift her up into a sitting position. He was utterly devastated that Faith had considered this, let alone actually gone through with it. Furrowing his brow he brushed a few stray strands of hair from her face as his arm wrapped around her waist so he could hold her up. He’d been trying his best to stay strong, but he couldn’t seem to help the single tear that rolled down his cheek.
“Don’t fret, Angel. She’ll wake up soon enough.” Drusilla said calmly, addressing Angel before she turned around to smile as her groupies hailed her for being a saint. At least, that was they saw her, but naturally Angel saw differently. Placing Faith down as gently as he possibly could he shot up, snarling as his features changed. “What did you do to her?” he glared, furiously as he caught hold of Drusilla’s wrist. “What she wanted.” Drusilla answered, shaking Angel off of her before her pet Lorophage demon became overly protective and intervened.
A few minutes later, Faith began to stir — feeling disorientated as she made an attempt to stand up. Her movements were shaky, but that didn’t matter because Angel had caught hold of her to help her up off the ground. “Faith?” — “Hey, big guy.” she smiled, but Angel already tell that everything had changed because her eyes were hollow and he found that unsettling. “Are you okay?” he asked, keeping his arm around her because she still looked as though she might fall over. “I feel just fine.” Faith replied, glancing around the room. She felt notably different. She wasn’t crying anymore because she didn’t feel as though there was anything to get that emotional about. She remembered all the bad things she’d done, like not taking responsibility for Alan Finch’s death, murdering Lester Worth, screwing with Buffy’s life, trying to take Angel’s (multiple times), torturing Wesley, chopping off Jimmy Mulligan’s left arm (the list could go on), but none of it mattered anymore. She didn’t feel guilty or overcome with remorse, she simply felt nothing.
Looking over in Drusilla’s direction, Faith gave a nod. “Thank you.” — Placing a hand on her chest, Drusilla walked over to Angel and Faith and smiled politely at them both as though all three of them were lifelong friends. “You’re welcome, Faith. It was such a pleasure to finally meet you and perhaps the next time we meet you will be bringing Angel to me, so I can save him just like I saved you.”
Faith opened her mouth to speak, but before she could say anything Angel cut her off so he could reply to Drusilla himself. “The next time we meet will be when I bring her back here so you can reverse what you’ve done to her.” he spat, trying his best to keep his temper in check.
Drusilla only chuckled in amusement. She was completely unfazed by Angel’s outbursts. “Oh, Angel. You still don’t see what I’m doing here, do you? All that guilt makes your vision foggy. Maybe Faith can change your thoughts.”
Faith looked up at Angel, unable to see why he was so angry. “Angel?” When he didn’t acknowledge her because he was too busy shooting daggers at Drusilla she tugged on the bottom of his torn shirt to grab his attention. “I’d like to go home now.”
There wasn’t anything else Angel could do tonight. He’d failed. But he didn’t have time to throw himself a pity party, so he simply nodded and turned around, guiding Faith out of the door with him.
